The DEI Bully With A Bloody Nose
Leftist bullies are paid to enforce university discrimination practices
Leftist bullies are paid to enforce university discrimination practices that dismantle student minds by making them believe things like 2 + 2 = 5.
DEI policies promote and protect a student's “right” to use plural pronouns like “they” and “them” to designate a single person are designed to destroy critical thinking skills. They teach students to make decisions based on desire and emotion rather than reason.
It’s right out of the Marxist playbook: George Orwell’s 1984.
In the end the Party would announce that two and two made five, and you would have to believe it. It was inevitable that they should make that claim sooner or later: the logic of their position demanded it. Not merely the validity of experience, but the very existence of external reality was tacitly denied by their philosophy.
It took a long time for the denial of external reality to become an enforceable institutional policy.
Rene Descartes (1596-1650) — the French philosopher, who, ironically, happened to be Catholic — posited that the reality of the external world wasn’t of particular importance. In other words, objective (and absolute) truth took a back seat to the human mind.
The British philosopher George Berkeley (1685–1753) took Descartes’ idea to its logical end: nothing exists but ideas, human ideas. In other words, man replaces God.
In 1847, Karl Marx published The Communist Manifesto. The stage was set for DEI. Though Marxists pander to religion when it suits their needs, they hate God. Promoting hate and disorientation from reality, DEI furthers the Marxist agenda by taking religion and reason out of the picture.
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, the Russian Noble laureate who weathered the hell of the Soviet gulag system, said in his acceptance speech for the 1983 Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion, “More than half a century ago, while I was still a child, I recall hearing a number of older people offer the following explanation for the great disasters that had befallen Russia: ‘Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened.’”
Solzhenitsyn's words are as relevant today as when he gave the speech. The government's targeting of churches during the COVID-19 pandemic gave away their stance on religion. The debunked 1619 Project, designed to re-make history and subvert America — a country built on Judeo-Christian principles — was, in part, an attack on objective truth and, by implication, the sovereignty of God.
Black Lives Matter transforming George Floyd’s unfortunate 2020 death into a catalyst for Marxist propaganda prompted a hiring boom for DEI professionals. Leftists are adept at using tragedy to their advantage.
Solzhenitsyn understood that Leftist malice was founded on the idea that “revolution must necessarily begin with atheism.” The French Revolution and its hatred of the Church is proof enough of that.
But the world had never before known a godlessness as organized, militarized, and tenaciously malevolent as that practiced by Marxism. Within the philosophical system of Marx and Lenin, and at the heart of their psychology, hatred of God is the principal driving force, more fundamental than all their political and economic pretensions.
Today’s Marxist powermongers thought the implementation of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policies in governmental institutions in America and beyond signaled the imminent triumph of the long slog of a revolution that has caused millions upon millions of deaths.
Bullies with Bloody Noses
They were wrong. A philosophy intrinsically at odds with reality is doomed to fail.
This month The College Fix posted an article titled, “Iowa universities cutting $1.3M in DEI positions after regents’ directives.”
That’s not a lot of money in the whacko world of higher reduction, but it’s a start. The cuts are in response to board directives that require “public higher education institutions to abolish all unnecessary DEI initiatives.”
The word “unnecessary” is a bit vague. It leaves the door open for left-leaning academics to produce convoluted reasons that are ultimately vacuous so they can claim they are necessary for some equally vapid notion like “social justice.” When a word or a phrase can mean anything to anybody, it means nothing at all.
DEI promoting discrimination under the banner of social justice is straight-up Orwellian. Stifling free speech while promoting racial discrimination and gender fluidity is blatantly contradictory to an institution designed to promote reason and the free exchange of ideas.
There is no such thing as a necessary DEI initiative. It’s all bunk and is based not on reason but on power. It was only a matter of time before it began to implode.
University of Iowa president Barbara Wilson said, “The University of Iowa along with getting rid of the DEI program will also be prohibiting anybody from requiring pronouns, and that will be added to all syllabi for all courses as of the fall.”
A move like that is worth more than money. The ship called Higher Ed appears to be turning just in time to miss the iceberg called Marxism waiting to sink it. One can hope.
DEI is taking a hit in the private sector as well. “Workplace diversity and inclusion efforts adopted in the wake of George Floyd’s murder and ensuing protests are fading as sweeping layoffs blunt companies’ bold commitments to boost underrepresented groups in their C-suites and ranks,” Bloomberg Law reported.
The idea of boosting “underrepresented groups in their C-suites and ranks” is fundamentally flawed. Taken to the extreme, it would mean a company would have to hire a gender-fluid person who went by the pronoun “them” with an IQ of 75 and no industry experience over a straight white male with an IQ of 130 and five years of industry experience.
The result: an imbecile workforce bankrupting the company. It doesn’t make sense because it doesn’t mesh with external reality (i.e., objective truth).
No matter how badly someone desires to usurp objective reality and the truth to which it leads, it fails because defying logic flies in the face of reality. Logic transcends race and the individual’s perception of reality. It is a tool of reason that leads to truth. No logic, no truth,
Aristotle wrote, “It is impossible for the same thing to belong and not to belong at the same time to the same thing and in the same respect.” In other words, you can’t be a woman and a man and the same time, an “antiracist” who promotes racism, or competent based on your skin color.
You can’t be “them” and “me” and 2 +2 does not equal 5. It’s about time people running our public and private institutions started to figure that out. It’s been a long time coming.
The more DEI hires there are, the more it becomes obvious we are not being lead by, or employing, the best and brightest. Just ask Boeing! My husband wrote repair manuals for Boeing and when he retired in 2019, he was already complaining about the lack of qualified workers they were hiring to maintain and repair aircraft. He wasn’t wrong; it’s has gotten much much worse and we’re seeing the results! I wish we could say it’s only in the aerospace industry, but we see evidence of it in every walk of life these days. Pete Buttigieg, anyone?
I hope you are right.
